从丛，南京大学外国语学院英语系教授，南京大学人文社会科学高级研究院（IAS）特聘教授、莎士比亚研究团队首席专家，南京大学-伯明翰大学-凤凰出版集团“莎士比亚（中国）中心”联席主任。兼任国际莎学大会学术顾问委员会委员（ISC Advisory Board）；《中世纪与文艺复兴研究》、《莎士比亚评论》、Shakespeare、Multicultural Shakespeare等国内外莎学期刊编委或审稿人。主要研究与教学领域为以莎学为中心的英美戏剧与比较文学、以国际学术交流为中心的跨文化交流研究，学术成果、教学思想与实践，被广泛关注、引用与研究，在学界具有持续影响。
在莎学研究与教学方面，从1980年代末开始，围绕“哈姆莱特并非人文主义者”“莎士比亚戏剧中国接受史”等论题，发表系列莎学论文，尤其注重西方悲剧文化中的人文主义资源在中国社会文化发展中的现实作用研究。长期在南京大学外国语学院从事“莎士比亚与文艺复兴”“莎士比亚研究”等课程的教学工作。近年着力于莎士比亚“空间转向”研究和莎士比亚戏剧来源与翻译研究，担任国家社会科学基金重大项目“莎士比亚戏剧本源系统整理与传承比较研究”（19ZDA294）子课题“莎士比亚戏剧源流批评研究”负责人。2019起主持“南京大学莎士比亚基金”（南大杰出校友夏鹏友邻优课资助设立），创办“友邻杯莎士比亚学生戏剧节”。莎学成果发表在《文艺研究》、《国外文学》、Multicultural Shakespeare、Shakespeare Jubilees、《中国社会科学报》、《中华读书报》等报刊或研究论集。多次应邀出席国际莎学大会（ISC）、世界莎学大会（WSC）等国际莎学重要活动，并做大会特约报告或专题报告。曾牵头策划、组织或构作“纪念1964年南京大学莎士比亚戏剧节50周年莎士比亚之夜”（南京，2014）、“汤莎会”《莎士比亚的邯郸梦》（伦敦，2016）、皇家莎士比亚剧院《安东尼与克丽奥帕特拉》舞台读剧（南京，2018）、黑匣子《裘力斯·凯撒》（南京，2019）、《汤显祖，抑或，莎士比亚？》（南京，2019）、莎士比亚诗体《牡丹亭》舞台读剧（斯特拉福，2024）等戏剧活动。
在跨文化交流研究方面，曾于1996年-2017年从事博士生国际学术交流英语教学，在国内首创博士生学术交流英语教学体系，并倡导在外语教学中改变“中国文化失语”状况。1997版《国际学术交流实用英语教程》、2003年版《学术交流英语教程》（与李泳燕合作）及其2014年修订版（与王文宇合作），被数十个高校选做研究生教材。教学研究成果发表在《光明日报》、《中国教育报》、《中国高教研究》、《高教研究与探索》等报刊，对国内多层次外语教学改革与相关研究起到了引领与推动作用。
长期致力于国际交流与合作实践，曾担任南京大学校务委员会委员、南京大学国际合作与交流处处长（兼台港澳办主任）、南京大学人文社会科学高级研究院副院长、南京大学-约翰斯•霍普金斯大学中美文化研究中心中方主任。
Cong Cong is a professor in the English Department and chair professor of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (IAS), Nanjing University, where she co-founded and is currently co-directing the Nanjing-Birmingham-Phoenix Shakespeare Centre, China. Her main areas of research and teaching are Shakespearean studies and cross-cultural communication, with a focus on the relevance of Shakespeare and the humanities in today’s China. Her recent interests are the “spatial turn” and source study of Shakespeare. Her publications have appeared in Chinese and international journals or peer-reviewed collections, such as Literature and Art Studies, Multicultural Shakespeare, Foreign Literatures, Shakespeare Jubilees, Guangming Daily, China Social Sciences Today, China Reading Weekly, and have been extensively studied and cited. She is a member of the editorial boards or a reviewer of Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Shakespeare Review, Shakespeare, Multicultural Shakespeare, among other Chinese and English journals. With the Shakespeare Fund established by Mr. Xia Peng, founder of Youlinyouke (YLYK), she founded YLYK Cup Student Shakespeare Festival. She has orchestrated theatrical events as an organizer or a dramaturg, including the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Nanjing University Shakespeare Jubilee Festival (Nanjing, 2014), Shakespeare’s Handan Dream (London, 2016), stage reading of Antony and Cleopatra for RSC Chinese Translation Project (Nanjing, 2018), Julius Caesar (NJU Black Box, 2019), Tang Xianzu, or, Shakespeare? (Nanjing, 2019), stage reading of The Peony Pavilion in Shakespearean style at the Shakespeare Institute (Stratford-upon-Avon). She is now the leading researcher for the sub-project "Studies on the Criticisms of the Sources of Shakespeare's Plays" under the Major Project of China National Social Science Foundation, titled "A Systematic and Comparative Study and Compilation of the Sources of Shakespeare’s Plays" (Led by Professor Li Weifang, Grant No. 19ZDA294).
Besides Shakespeare courses offered to graduate students, Professor Cong taught English for academic and communication purposes for non-English major doctoral students at Nanjing University over 20 years, from which 15 thousand doctoral students and early career researchers of various fields have benefited. Her English for Academic Communication, published by Nanjing University (1997, 2003 with Li Yongyan, 2014 with Wang Wenyu), has been taken as textbook for graduate education by dozens of leading universities in China.
Professor Cong is a member of the International Shakespeare Association (ISA), the Asian Shakespeare Association (ASA), member of the Advisory Board of International Shakespeare Conference (ISC) based in Stratford-upon-Avon, and council member of the Chinese Shakespeare Association (CSA). She served as the Deputy Dean of IAS of Nanjing University and coordinator of UBIAS from 2012 to 2020, making innovative contributions to interdisciplinary academic research and talent cultivation at Nanjing University and beyond. She co-directed Hopkins-Nanjing Center in 2020-2023.
